Engelberg

Top Rated Restaurants in Engelberg

Engelberg has a great range of dining with about 55 establishments to choose from and a good international mix too, not just fondue and raclette merchants, although there are plenty of those wonderful establishments. You’ll also find Chinese and Indian establishments as well as a dozen places to buy a pizza. The Yucatan is a lively choice for Tex Mex restaurant with frequent early evening happy hours.

Brasserie Konrad

At Ski Lodge Engelberg’s on-site restaurant, Chef Jonas Bolling conjures up extraordinarily good New Nordic cuisine that’s as pretty as a picture and perfect for refuelling after a tough day on the slopes (the three-course skier’s menu is a steal at Sfr59). If you’re not a hotel guest, be sure to reserve a table in the high season.

Spice Bazaar

This Indian restaurant at the Hotel Central gets rave reviews from both visitors and locals, and serves up all sorts of favorites, such as Badami Chicken (Sfr29.50), Tandoori Mix Grill (Sfr40) and Swiss-Indian fusion like Spice of Life Fondue (Sfr24; minimum two people).

Restaurant-Steakhouse Bierlialp

Specialising in meat, pasta, and pizza, start at the salad buffet (Sfr12.50) then move on. The pizza and pasta are good, but if you’re a meat eater with a fat wallet, go for the Irish Black Angus Beef (Sfr52). There’s a dessert buffet to top it all off.

Alpenclub

This low-ceilinged, candlelit tavern creaks under the weight of its 200-year history at the Alpenclub hotel complex. Feast away on fondue, pizza, Italian staples or the house specialty: sizzling beef tenderloin with a garlic, onion and herb sauce.

Grocery Shops

There are about a dozen food shops in Engelberg ranging from traditional locally-owned grocery stores to larger supermarket chain outlets.
